Digital Literacy
Overview
This course is designed for students enrolled in our Basic Scratch program.
Digital literacy training is provided together with the Basic Scratch course.
Who is it for?
It is intended for students aged 8–12 with no prior coding experience, who are taking the Basic Scratch course.
The goal of digital literacy education is to introduce our students to the competencies of the digital world and equip them with essential foundational skills. With this training, students will learn the basics of the software and applications they will encounter on their learning journey, preparing them to begin and progress in software development.
Children have a significant advantage when they possess digital literacy awareness. In today’s highly connected world, children start acquiring digital skills at an early age.
As most schools now require assignments and projects to be submitted online, children are expected to have basic skills such as writing a document, conducting research using search engines, sending emails, and navigating the internet safely. Digital literacy has become more essential than ever before.
The real problem arises when children use technology without clearly understanding its purpose. Children who use social media should understand how it works, who can see what they post, and what kind of digital footprint they leave behind.
This training helps children treat online communication like face-to-face interaction and recognize the importance of responsible sharing.
Our digital literacy curriculum focuses on the following topics:
Think Before You Share: Digital Footprint and Responsible Communication
Check If It’s Real: Phishing, Scams, and Credible Sources
Keep Secrets Safe: Internet Security and Passwords
Be Kind, Stay Private: Dealing with Negative Online Behavior
Speak Up When There’s a Problem: Suspicious Content and Situations
This program is taught in an engaging and fun way, fully integrated with our Basic Scratch curriculum.
